FAQ

Willy B FAQ: good questions, straight answers.

How booking works, what shapes the fee, what the show needs, and how lessons run. If your question isn’t here, ask him directly.

Booking & pricing

Why doesn’t Willy B publish prices?

Because no two nights are alike. A dinner for twelve at home and a company party in a hotel ballroom need different things, so every event is quoted personally. Start here.

What shapes the fee for a private event?

How long he plays, the format (solo, with a second musician or a full band, or producing the whole night), the location and travel, and add-ons such as an extra hour or a song written for your guests. Every quote starts with a call, so you only pay for what your night needs.

Can our planner, house manager or assistant handle the booking?

Yes. He can work directly with planners, house managers and assistants, and sends them what they need: the quote, contract, invoice, W-9 and certificate of insurance.

Is there a contract?

Yes. Bookings are confirmed with a contract and an invoice, so everyone knows exactly what’s happening and when.

How do we secure the date?

With a signed contract and a 50% deposit. The balance is due on the day of the event, by Zelle, Venmo, check or cash. Dates aren’t held without a deposit, so if you love the date, don’t wait long.

Can we change the date?

Ask as early as you can. Every booking is confirmed with a contract, so any change is agreed in writing before your date.

What if it rains, or a storm is coming?

Outdoors, his gear needs shade and cover, so plan a covered spot for him. If the weather forces a change, talk to him as early as you can; changes are agreed in writing under your contract.

What if Willy is ill on the day?

He sends a quality musician he trusts in his place, so your event still has live music.

Can we talk to someone who has booked him?

Yes. References are available on request. Ask when you talk with him.

When is Miami’s busiest season for live music?

October through April. That’s Willy’s busiest stretch, with Miami’s winter season, Miami Art Week and the December holidays inside it. If your date falls then, reach out early.

The show

What happens at a Willy B performance?

He builds songs live on a looper, drums, bass and keys first, then plays guitar or harmonica and sings on top, weaving through songs your guests know. If you’ve booked custom songs, the stories you sent come back as songs about the people in the room. See the one-man band.

What music does Willy B play?

Americana, soul, funk, blues, jazz, R&B, folk, country and pop, in English and Spanish. Every set is curated to the hosts.

Has Willy B performed at public events?

Yes. He sang God Bless America during the seventh-inning stretch at a Miami Marlins game (September 27, 2026), and has played New York venues including Rockwood Music Hall and Webster Hall. The Harp Machine, his duo with Venezuelan electric-harp player Leonard Jacome, played the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans on April 24, 2025, the first night of Jazz Fest.

Can we see him perform before we book?

Yes. Start with the clips on the one-man band and harmonica pages, then his YouTube channel and Instagram, @willybplaysmusic. Planning something significant? Ask about his next public date.

Can he cover more than one part of the event?

Yes. He can play the welcome, the dinner and the party, write a song for the toast, MC in between, and book other artists for the parts he isn’t playing. Event production.

Lessons

What instruments does Willy B teach?

Guitar, piano, voice and harmonica, plus songwriting and the basics of recording, live looping, music theory and performance. With some private clients, lessons become songwriting sessions. All lessons.

What happens in a first lesson?

It’s a full, paid lesson, and he gives you extra time on it. When you book, tell him the music you love and what you’d like to be able to play.

Who are lessons for?

Beginner and intermediate students from age 7 to seniors. Lessons are weekly, an hour to two hours each, and taught in English.

Where do lessons take place?

In your home, anywhere in Miami from Key Biscayne to North Beach, at his soundproofed studio, or online over Zoom or FaceTime.

Does Willy B offer group lessons?

Yes. He teaches group lessons and runs hands-on music workshops for companies and events, booked directly with him. Tell him the size of the group and what you’d like to get out of it.

Logistics

What areas does Willy B serve?

Events: Miami and South Florida, including Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell and Pinecrest, and destination events beyond Florida. Lessons: in students’ homes across Miami, from Key Biscayne to North Beach, at his Miami studio, and online.

Does Willy B travel for events?

Yes, as far as you need him. He plays across South Florida and takes destination events outside Florida, happy to fly in. When he drives, travel is built into his fee. Planning something farther away? Tell him where and when.

What does he need at the venue?

It depends on the venue. He brings his own sound, sized to the room, or works with the venue’s or hotel’s AV, and he typically sound-checks before he plays. Outdoors, his gear needs shade and cover. Send the venue details and he’ll confirm the setup with your planner or venue.

How long does he play?

As long as you need: there’s no minimum. Most bookings run from one 45-minute set to three. For a couple of hours, that’s usually two 40- to 45-minute sets; for three hours, three 45-minute sets with 5- to 10-minute breaks. Recorded music usually plays during the breaks.

What does he wear?

Whatever your event calls for. He dresses for the occasion and the space, and he prefers a suit.

Does he carry insurance?

Yes: current insurance with $1 million in coverage, and he can add your hotel or venue as an additional insured. He also provides a W-9, contract and invoice.

What happens after I send an inquiry?

Willy or someone on his team replies, usually the same day and often within a couple of hours. Every quote includes a call about the people, the place and the music, and then your personal quote. Start here.

Still wondering?

Ask Willy directly. Tell him about your event or the lessons you have in mind.
