The best first instrument nobody talks about
A harmonica costs less than dinner out, fits in a pocket, and gets you playing a real song sooner than almost anything else. It’s also one of the most expressive instruments there is: bend one note and you’ve got the blues.
That’s why it suits kids, teens, busy adults and seniors alike. You can even practice in the car. (Parked.)
Learn from someone who plays it for a living
Willy taught himself harmonica as a teenager, jamming along to the Grateful Dead with friends, and was, in his words, “really bad at first.” Then he learned the hard way, sitting in with jazz players far above his level. He knows every mistake you’re about to make, because he made them.
Today he plays harmonica at private events, on stage and on recording sessions, and lessons come with the tricks you only learn on the gig. Harmonica player for hire.

At home, at the studio, or on Zoom
He teaches students in their homes, anywhere in Miami from Key Biscayne to North Beach, and at his soundproofed studio, where you can record yourself and hear what you really sound like. Outside Miami? Harmonica works well online, over Zoom or FaceTime.

Questions
Good to know
Where can I take harmonica lessons in Miami?
With Willy B, a harmonica teacher in Miami who plays harmonica professionally. He teaches private lessons in students’ homes around Miami, at his Miami studio, and online. Harmonica is his first instrument, and the one he’s played the longest.
Which harmonica should a beginner buy?
Ask before you buy. Most teachers start beginners on a 10-hole diatonic harmonica in the key of C, and Willy will point you to a good one for the music you want to play.
Can I teach myself harmonica?
You can. Willy did, and it took him a lot of bad notes. A teacher gets you to clean notes, bending and real songs faster, and catches bad habits before they stick.
Is harmonica hard to learn?
It’s easy to start and a lifetime to master. A simple tune comes early; bending notes and playing the blues take patient practice, and that’s where a teacher helps most.
Do you teach harmonica lessons online?
Yes, over Zoom or FaceTime, for students anywhere. In person in Miami is how he prefers to teach, but harmonica translates well to video.
Can seniors learn harmonica?
Yes. He teaches seniors as well as kids, teens and adults. A harmonica is light and portable, there are no chord shapes to stretch for, and it gets you playing real music quickly.
